 Dr Stephen Newlands – Owner and Director of EPP

steve_portraitStephen Newlands is the chemist who started EPP in 1992 and has been responsible for leading and directing the company from its creation. He was born and raised a native Scot only a few kilometres from the Science Park where the company is based.

A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, Stephen started his working life as a research chemist with BP, before moving on to become a development chemist with a pharmaceutical (API) manufacturer, Macfarlan Smith (formerly part of Glaxo) in Edinburgh. He is a Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, a Chartered Chemist and a Chartered Scientist. His interests include bird-watching and rifle shooting (though he does not combine the two pursuits!).



Mr. Bruce Craig - Analytical Services Manager

bruce_craig_120Mr Craig joined EPP Ltd in May 2008 as Analytical Services Manager from previous employment at Charles River (previously Inveresk Research) where he spent 20 years as a study director in the agrochemical registration field.
 
Mr Craig's expertise is in the area of 5-Batch Analysis and physico-chemical testing where he developed the business extensively at CRL/Inveresk.





Dr. Ian Dawson - New Product Development Manager


ian_dawson_120Dr Ian Dawson has over 34 years experience in chemistry including organic synthesis, radio and stable isotope labelling, structure elucidation, isolation and identification of natural products. Expertise in LCMS and NMR. Manager of EPP LCMS and NMR Service.

 

 

Mr. Graeme Muir -  Production Manager  

graeme_muir_120Mr Graeme Muir has over 25 years experience in medicinal and organic chemistry and is currently overseeing both multi-kilo and small scall synthesis projects.

 

 

 

Dr. David Tredgett – QA Manager

david_tredgett_120Dr David Tredgett currently works as QA Manager at EPP. He has over 10 years experience of the custom synthesis of new, or commercially difficult to obtain, fine organic compounds for use as agrochemical or fine chemical analytical reference standards.

 

Dr. Robin Hall – Senior Chemist

robin_hall_120Dr. Robin Hall has over 19 years experience in synthetic route design and organic synthetic methodology. Main areas of interest - synthesis of indole, quinoline and isoquinoline based compounds.

   

  

Ms Victoria Mora-Vallejo - Chemist

Victoria Mora-Vallejo, originally from Spain, has almost 10 years experience of working as a Synthetic Organic Chemist. After completing her studies at the University of Malaga in Spain, Victoria worked as an Organic Chemist at Maybridge Ltd in Cornwall for 6 years where she attained the post of Senior Chemist before moving to Scotland where she joined EPP Ltd in 2008.

 

Dr Karen Anderson - Chemist / Health & Saftey Officer   

Dr Anderson joined EPP Ltd in 2004 after completing a post doc in synthetic organic chemistry at AMRI in the USA. Previous to this, Karen studied at Edinburgh University and completed a years work at Merck also. Karen has an expert knowledge of organic chemistry and has been responsible for EPP Ltd's health & safety policy for the past 4 years.

 

Dr Iain Nicolson - Project Director 

Dr Iain Nicolson has 7 years experience working as an organic chemist. After completing his MChem and PhD at Edinburgh University, Iain worked at the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and Charles River Laboratories where he worked in metabolite identification & bio-transformation. Iain is highly experienced in LCMS & GCMS and is an essential part of EPP Ltd's analytical & synthetic team.

 

Eilidh Paterson - Study Director

Eilidh joined EPP in May 2010 as a Study Director following previous employment at Charles River Laboratories.

Eilidh started her employment at Charles River (then Inveresk Research) in Oct 1998 following a degree in Applied Chemistry at Strathclyde University.  Eilidh has over 10 years experience in 5-Batch Analysis and Physico-Chemical testing and became a Study Director in May 2002.
