Metabolite Hunting and Identification
EPP Ltd offers a metabolite hunting and identification service to support pharmaceutical metabolic fate studies. This service is facilitated by an LCQ Deca XP system.
The LCQ Deca XP is 10 times more sensitive than the LCQ Deca (also currently in use at EPP) and able to perform multiple stages of mass spectrometry. Up to 10 stages (MS^10) can be performed using an ion trap, greatly increasing the amount of structural information obtainable for a given molecule. This is particularly relevant for detecting metabolites in biological media obtained from metabolic fate studies. Additionally, the inclusion of an orthogonal ion source prevents matrix contamination, a common problem when analysing biological samples.
Although not GLP compliant at the moment, the new system will be under going compliance testing in Feb/Mar and will be ready to undertake GLP compliant screening for metabolites of non-radio-labeled compounds after this time. Until then, screening can still take place but not to GLP.
