Understanding and identifying the wide range of talent and resource Scotland has in order to develop and maximise the potential of natural products was the theme running through the presentations.  Opportunities for collaboration between academia and industry was an important message highlighted by several of the speakers as was the importance of reacting to the reality that fossil based resources are finite and now is the time to react to seek replacements.  There were several interesting talks outlining the importance of focusing our attention towards how best to develop natural resources as well as some very interesting presentations on what barriers we face in order to release the potential.

This was a very useful opportunity for networking with academia, large industry, small business and government bodies and it was inspiring to see the passion that we have as a country for natural products.
